Liquidation Sale

The Second Chance Thrift Store is holding a Liquidation Sale. Everything in the store is 75% off marked prices (excluding fixtures). Plus, all clothing is 25 cents! (No further discounts will be taken on clothing.) You’ll get deep, deep discounts on furniture, electronics, clothing, household decor, books, DVDs, CDs, and more. The thrift store is slated to close on August 9.

Fixtures are also for sale, but they cannot be picked up until after August 9. As always, all proceeds from benefit animals at the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

Due to the store’s closing, we can no longer accept donations of thrift store items. Donations of gently used pet-related goods may still be brought to the Cedar Valley Humane Society’s facility at 7411 Mount Vernon Road SE in Cedar Rapids.

Top Winners on KCRG’s A-List

The Cedar Valley Humane Society won first place in two categories on KCRG-TV9′s A-List, an annual competition that pits local businesses and organizations against each other for the bragging rights to be called the best in the area.

The Cedar Valley Humane Society took the top prize in the Shopping: Best Pet Services and Shopping: Best Pet Supplies categories. The Second Chance Thrift Store won second place in the Shopping: Best Housewares category.

“We’re very pleased to have been named to the A-List in three different categories,” says Chuck Tourtillott, executive director of the Cedar Valley Humane Society. “Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to continuous improvement, and winning this popular contest is a sign of how we are serving our communities better and better each day.”

Welcome to the Cedar Valley Humane Society – Second Chance Thrift Store website.  This site is designed to keep you up to date on special offers, new items for sale and events happening not only at the Thrift Store but also with the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

We have a wide variety of items in our store – from clothes, shoes and purses to small kitchen appliances, toys and pet food.  With inventory changing daily we can’t post everything we have on the site so stop in and look around and visit with Kurt – the store manager while enjoying some complimentary popcorn.  While you are there be sure to check out the pictures on the walls of the shelter pets that you are helping to save by shopping and donating to the Second Chance Thrift Store.

We are located at 617 Center Point Rd NE and are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Donations are accepted at the store after 10:30 a.m. and before 5:30 p.m. The store’s number is (319) 365-1931.
